Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my bodywork session take place?
Your Bowen/Emmett/ Scar Tissue session will take place in a warm, comfortable room. You will stand, or sit/lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

What should I wear?
Bowen/Emmett/Scar Tissue Release usually can be performed with loose fitting clothes. .

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will the modalities be applied?
A typical session will focus on where your pain is.

What will the work feel like?
A session results will be different on each person.  Some people feel warm/cold sensations. Others feel twitching or movement of the muscles. Sometimes people don't feel anything on the table, but later feel some movement or ease of pain. Each time it can be different.  Most of my clients leave my office with 2 or less pain out of 10.  .

What should I do during the Bowenwork session?
Prior to the session, please be hydrated.  When you get checked in feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the session make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). The practitioner would like to know if you are feeling anything, such as in the above paragraph. If you are feeling something in your body moving, it is advantageous not to continue with more moves. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. People often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a session, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your session. To keep the body processing, you should stand up and walk every 30 minutes if you are seated or driving for over a half an hour. Walking also helps with repatterning. The session can continue to make changes in the fascia for one week or more.

Are there any medical conditions that would make these modalities inadvisable?

Too low of Blood Pressure may make someone susceptible to fainting as both Bowen and Emmett tend to lower BP. A surgical wire in the neck makes it inadvisable to do the neck procedure in that area. Breast Implants make it inadvisable to do the chest procedure.
